Nature in a frame

I took a walk on Reimersholme close to where I live and in a tree I found this picture frame hanging from two tree branches. Makes a beautiful picture.

Daybed - my favorite furniture

Alexandra turned out to be a superblogger. I feel the pressure and have to try to catch up a little bit. I start with my favourite furniture in my home. We have this daybed in oak designed by Börge Mogensen in our living room. We got it from my parents-in-law and at the beginning I really hated it because it still has the original upholstery in green check which is not very nice. With time I learned to love it because it’s so practical, it’s big and comfortable and it can be used as a guest bed (or simply just as a daybed). Or for kids to jump in and climb on. Look here for more daybeds and other nice vintage design.

Red

These photos are from one of my favourite streets in Stockholm. I pass it every day and it always makes me happy to see the colours changing with the seasons. The tree that is now burgundy becomes orange and bright red in the autumn.

Mimmi's new bed

Yesterday Mimmi turned 1. I can't believe how fast one year has passed and how much she has grown. Ten months after bringing home my baby girl she was still sleeping in a banana box with a pillow and a blanket. The first months she chewed on everything including some of my favourite shoes, cords and she sofa mentioned earlier. When she was about six months I bought a cheap cane bed from IKEA that I spray painted black and made a pillow for. She hated it. She stubbornly refused to sleep there and a week later she had chewed it into something unrecognizable. I decided she wasn't ready for a new bed in some time. Yesterday my mother, Mimmi's favourite babysitter, surprised us with this smart snuggle bed from Danish Design. Mimmi slept in it last night and didn't take a single bite. She's a big girl now.

Beam

When we were arranging an exhibition at Swedish design store Svenssons i Lammhult a couple of weeks ago, I kept returning to this new dinner/conference table designed by Arik Levy for Swedese. The leg base is in oak veneered plywood and the table top in glass. It is so elegant and yet has quite a rustic feeling with its trestlelike leg base.

Dogproof sofa

My adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Mimmi is very spoilt and considers herself head of the family. Her favourite spot is my white sofa which has changed into off-white since she came into my life as a little puppy last summer. She has also tried her best to reshape the filling and the fabric with her small but sharp teeth. A couple of weeks ago I resigned and decided it was time for a new sofa and the hunt began. I started out imagining fabulous pieces from B&B and Cassina but soon narrowed down my choice to three obtainable options; a box shaped sofa from Eilersen designed for the Swedish design brand Svenssons i Lammhult, a sofa from Ihreborn named Cool - and the budget alternative: Quattro from Swedish brand Asko. I looked through lots and lots of fabrics searching for one that could make both black and white fur disappear and that would stand up for a rough treatment. I found the perfect one from the Quattro options; a mottled brownish grey (mole) in cotton/cotton chenille/polyester. Delivery time is around 8 weeks -I'll let you know how it turns out!

American classic?

I often see this beautiful chair in US home style magazines, but rarely in Sweden. The Cherner Armchair was designed in 1958 by Norman Cherner and utilizes a molded plywood seat with a unique construction of laminated plywood in graduated thickness. The arms are made of solid beech which gives the chair additional strength. There is also a stacking chair ressembling the Arne Jacobsen Series 7 chairs that are extremely popular in Scandinavia.

The perfect floor

My kitchen floor needs a serious makeover. The wood has turned yellow since it was last maintained ten years ago. It looks folklore in a very non-cool way. My latest vision of the perfect kitchen floor is a black one with a distinct tree structure. It would look fabulously modern and minimalist with my white walls. Look at this beautiful floor from Baseco.
