New collections from Your Wallpaper

Last night, Your Wallpaper launched their new collections. The new motives are created by some really talented Swedish illustrators, graphic artists and designers, among them Cassandra Rhodin, Lovisa Burfitt, Lisa Bengtsson and Ingela och Vi (in order of appearance above) - special favourites since we also represent them in our web gallery Andyland.

Sad beautiful young things

Stockholm Fashion Week has started which I mentioned in an earlier post. This has attracted a lot of interesting guests, among them the prominent street fashion bloggers Garance Doré and The Sartorialist. Scott Schulman , aka The Sartorialist, has been here before and shows his images without reflection. Garance Doré on the other hand seems delighted but a bit puzzled by the Stockholmers. "We are light years from Paris, Milan and New York. But that is exactly what I like about it. Opening myself up to a new universe, discovering little by little the new fashion planet that is the Scandinavian countries." "... the Swedish fashion is wearable, for sure, but it is also sometimes repetitive. Black, white, grey, and this shifted sensuality that I sometimes find hard to appreciate. Is it because the girls are so beautiful that they love to hide themselves in garments a little bit too... bizarre? The shoes on the verge of orthopedic? I don't know, but it really interests me", she says.
And it is really interesting. I myself find Swedish fashion above all a bit melancholic. But we are after all the country of Strindberg and Bergman. Life isn't always fun, is it? First four images from Garance Doré, the last from The Sartorialist.

Drinks in the living room, dinner under the trees

Eight years ago, Edward Wilkerson moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn after finding a duplex with a generous garden. He filled it with objects from Africa and the Far East and got help from a florist friend who created a perfect garden space as an extension of the living room. More in NY Magazine.

Now the brand also has its own web-shop. Bantie’s collection consists of seven patterns. In total there are 18 different colour combinations. The fabrics come by the metre, but they also make cushions, floor cushions, table cloths, table mats, bags, cosmetic bags, wash bags, trays and Russian dolls.

Noir et Blanc

Tonight it's the Swedish Elle gala and the rookie of the year is Noir & Blanc. A new Swedih brand by the designers Petra Thoms and Linnea Carlgren. The inspiration is often based on using strong silhouettes and distinct colours, decadent but yet still wearable.

70 sqm in Paris

I found this very charming apartment, full of creative solutions, in Sköna Hem. The beautiful dining table was designed by the owner and made out of wood from a wall that was torn down.

Marc Jacobs is the man behind the spring collections from Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs. It's interesting to see how colours and shapes are echoed in in all three collections but executed so differently; wide belts, country style skirts, colours etc.
