Minimarket is a swedish clothing label designed by three sisters (Sofie, Pernilla, Jennifer). Here are some images from their 2009 spring/summer collection. Nice with strong colours; red, green and blue.
Stockholm has been busy with two contemporary art fairs this week-end: Market and Supermarket. The gallery Roger Björkholmen showed at Market and presented some works by Lukas Göthman who is a personal favourite. He paints letters which sentence by sentence build a visual composition set over a monochrome of colour. He has a very special way of working with repetitive text and each combination of a text and background colour set a different emotional tone for the work.
Caitlin and Samuel Dowe-Sandes lived and worked in New York and Los Angeles before moving to Marrakech in June 2006. Samuel, a filmmaker, and Caitlin, a PR executive specialized in design business dreamt of moving to an exotic place and starting a creative venture together. Marrakech turned out to be the perfect place and they bought a 250 year-old house and started to renovate it. Drawn to the black-and white tiles in their own courtyard they started to make their own tile design. The cement material turned out to be a perfect medium for modern graphic designs which led the couple to found Popham Design.
A friend showed me these images from the Wardrobe collection by Colin Smith. They are so beautiful and sensous. I tried to google for more information about the artist but could find next to nothing that was updated.
Orrefors has a long tradition of lamp manufacture. Now, after a 30 years’ pause, Orrefors has developed a new collection in close cooperation with lamp specialists Zero – the Light shadows range is one of the first results of cooperation between the two companies. Light shadows is based on Ingegerd Råman’s simple, functional design and is available in four different versions – Light shadows Confetti, Swirl, Line och Loop. Ingegerd Råman started out from the same, simple, basic shape when she designed the light shadows table and ceiling lamps. The lamps are available in both black and white.
Domino Magazine is saying farewell after 4 years and 28 issues, a farewell that is sad to many interior design bloggers. Sarah of Where the sidewalk begins has found a particularly cute collection of photos in the Domino website featuring the true masters of the homes.
Strawberry Sky is a Swedish company founded and run by Charlotte Bluhme and Hanne Krook. They design colourful jewellery, traditional embroidery bags and other accessories. One of them is a gemologist so they have a great knowledge of stones, they make everything by hand and work with limited editions. A bit too etno chic for my taste but together with a black dress it will be just perfect...
In times of global financial crises, gold is known to be a good investment. Did Ralph Lauren have this in mind when creating the spring/summer 09 collection?
I live in Stockholm and have a web gallery, Andyland, with works by some of Sweden's best illustrators and photographers. This blog is about things that I'm currently inspired by or obsessing over!
